1. Take in a Christmas Classic
Who doesn’t love “The Nutcracker”? First on our list is the Pacific Northwest Ballet’s production of “The Nutcracker” at McCaw Hall. With magnificent sets, a live, 60-piece orchestra, and George Balanchine’s original choreography, these dazzling dancers will bring this iconic production to life! If this seems like the perfect event for you, you can find discounted tickets on the Pacific Northwest Ballet website. The show will run from November 29th – December 28th, so there is plenty of time to take in the magic!
2. Get Crafty
Second on our list of Seattle holiday events is the Renegade Craft Fair. Held at the winter marketplace at Hangar 30 in Magnuson Park, this is a holiday must! Sipping a warm seasonal cocktail, you can shop craft items made by local artists and designers. In addition to shopping local treasures, you can munch on delicious bites from local food trucks. To top it all off, you can also plan to jam out to holiday DJ sets! Taking place on December 14th and 15th, this 2-day event is guaranteed to get you into the holiday spirit! If this seems like the festive fun you’ve been looking for, you can learn more and purchase tickets on the event website!
3. Take a Christmas Cruise
Who says Christmas can only be celebrated on land? If you are up for an adventure, you can don your tackiest Christmas sweater and take to the sea for a cruise! On December 21st at 8:30pm, Waterways Cruises will host an Ugly Sweater Holiday Party Cruise. Dressed in your most garish holiday attire, you can dance to tunes spun by a live DJ. There will be delicious appetizers (and one drink ticket) included with the ticket price – as well as beer, wine, and cocktails available to purchase. Does this sound like your kind of party? Learn more and purchase your tickets here!
4. Attend the Holiday Parade of Lights Cruise
For a more traditional holiday experience on the water, you can attend the Holiday Parade of Lights Cruise. Hosted by Waterway Cruises, you can look forward to a Champagne or sparkling cider toast upon boarding a yacht festooned with dazzling holiday lights. Once you’re underway, you can sip some cider and warm seasonal cocktails while carolers joyfully sing Christmas classics. As you cruise along Lake Union and Lake Washington, you will have the best view in Seattle of stunning Christmas light displays. In addition to handcrafted seasonal cocktails, you can delight in a scrumptious buffet at your own private table. If you don’t think the holidays can get any better than this, visit the event page to learn more and purchase your tickets!
5. Pay a Visit to the Diving Santa Exhibit
Have you ever wondered if there are any limits to what Santa is able to do? Well, you can witness his swimming skills for yourself by visiting Diving Santa at the Seattle Aquarium! From December 13th – 23rd, you can see Santa diving in the 120,000-gallon Window on Washington Waters exhibit! This is a perfect family-friendly event with plenty of photo ops with Santa. There will even be professional photographers available to capture you and your whole family in a picture with Santa as you’ve never seen him before! If this sounds like the perfect activity for you and your family, you can visit the event page to learn more and purchase tickets!
6. Come See Rudolph and All his Reindeer Friends
Another event that will be fun for all ages is the Reindeer Festival at Swansons Nursery. Inside a holiday pavilion in the central greenhouse, you can shop for locally made holiday treasures. From décor, ornaments, jewelry, and books, you can find unique stocking-stuffers for all! In addition to these handmade items, you can also shop a large variety of seasonal plants. You can pick out the perfect tree or find a creative holiday arrangement for your home, all in one place. As a highlight of this event, you can meet some of Santa’s reindeer, and even attend a “Meet the Reindeer” workshop to learn all about these incredible animals!
With the opportunity to take a selfie or family photo with a real reindeer, your holiday Christmas cards will be the envy of all your friends! Once you’ve hung out with some reindeer, you can explore the model train village, where festively themed model trains zoom through wintry landscapes. In addition to these attractions, you can take your photo with Santa with Bonjour Photography. For more information and tickets to this event, you can visit the festival website.
7. Plan your Own Christmas Lights Tour
Last but not least on our list will appeal to anyone who prefers to stray from the beaten path! If you are interested in taking in the holiday sights in Seattle on your own, here are some must-see places to include on your tour! First stop: T-Mobile Park. This year, Enchant Christmas will be bringing some magic to T-Mobile Park with a captivating light maze, light sculptures, and even a market curated by Urban Craft Uprising! Next on your tour should be Spanaway Park, where you can stroll among a dazzling light display and enjoy delicious bites from local food trucks.
Once you’ve strolled the parks, you can stop by Snowflake Lane in Downtown, Bellevue. Each night for the entire month, you can enjoy fake falling snow, live music, and a nightly parade! Another must-see stop on your tour should be the Woodland Park Zoo for their WildLights event! With an impressive display of lights throughout the park, you can sip hot chocolate and share some Christmas cheer with some of your favorite animal residents.
