6 Ways to Celebrate Earth Day in Seattle, WA
Earth Day is coming up on April 22! Do you have plans to celebrate our planet?
We believe in protecting the earth year-round with eco-friendly living, and we think Earth Day offers an important reminder to prioritize our planet. Here are six ways to celebrate Earth Day in Seattle, WA this weekend!
Earth Day Family Festival
Give something back to the earth this year and plant a tree as a family in Lewis Creek Park! The Earth Day Family Festival marks Bellevue’s 28th year as a Tree City USA community. Kids can visit “eco-stations” and collect stamps for their activities passports to win prizes. The festival will last from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
21 Acres Earth Day Volunteer Event
Support your local food systems by participating in regenerative farming at 21 Acres. Help out with planning, seeding, weeding, mulching, and more as the 21 Acres farmers prepare for their summer harvest. The volunteer event will last from 8:15 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Earth Day Run
Choose between 5k, 10k, and 15k courses in the Earth Day Run at Magnuson Park. Every finisher will have a tree planted at the park in their honor and will receive a native sapling to take home with them. Old running shoes will be collected and recycled by the More Foundation Group serving communities in Africa. Same-day registration and bib pick-up will begin at 8:30 a.m. There will be a kids 400 meter dash at 9:45 a.m. Runners will begin their courses at 10 a.m.
April 20 & April 21
Visit Chihuly Garden and Glass this Earth Day weekend and you can participate in the gardening action by releasing ladybugs. Guests can pick up a cup of live ladybugs in the Glasshouse and release them anywhere they want in the gardens. The Ladybug Release is free with regular admission tickets, and lasts from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. on April 20 and April 21.
National Park Free Days
Experience any of Washington’s stunning National Parks for free this Earth Day Weekend! To kick off National Park Week, National Park Services will offer free admission to all guests during regular park hours on April 20.
Earth Day Plant Swap
The Works in Downtown Seattle is calling all plant lovers to a Plant Swap event on Earth Day! Bring as many cuttings, pups, or rooted plants as you want and prepare to meet fellow green thumbs. Pay what you can for tickets, with a suggested donation amount of $5. The event will last from 6 – 7 p.m.
